Student Building Update
Thank you to those who have pledged for the construction
of a new Student Building and Multipurpose Facility. At
the present level of pledging we are 69% of the way
to reaching our goal! For those who have not pledged, we
ask that you prayerfully consider making that
pledge soon. Pledge cards are available at Alcove A
where you will find drawings and more
detailed information about the Student
Building proposal. You can also see them at
carmelbaptist.org/generationnow. Thank you for your
pledges and your continued prayer about your
participation in the future of the Student Ministry at
Carmel.

From
Your Pastor--Last Sunday we celebrated the
ordinance of Baptism. Today we observe the ordinance of the Lord’s
Supper. What is the origin of this Supper? What does it mean and
what does it teach us?

Outdoor Baptism and Picnic Invite
Many of your friends have never seen someone practice Believer’s
Baptism. That might be true for some of your family as well. Our
Outdoor Baptism and Picnic is a great time to invite friends to see
this non-verbal testimony of the difference Christ makes when He comes
into our lives. This is “relational evangelism” at it’s best.
Right now, invite a friend to come with you to this special event. It
takes place on June 8 at 4:00pm at the Hemby Recreation Center. We are
providing a meal of BBQ, baked beans, cole slaw, hot dogs for kids,
and beverages. Meal tickets are $2 per person, or $10 for a family.
Tickets are available today through May 25 at Alcove B and the Worship
Center Welcome Desk. Want to sign up to be baptized or to volunteer to
help? Contact Diane McGee at 704-847-8575, x3010. |

Senior Impact
We are planning a wonderful day of celebration and recognition for our
graduating seniors on June 1. Senior Impact will include a dinner for
seniors and their family and friends at 5:00pm, and a churchwide
ceremony in the Uptown Auditorium at 6:15pm. This is a special time to
honor and show support for our graduating seniors. There will be a
dessert reception following.
Reminder to parents of graduating seniors – we’ve extended the
deadline for submitting senior pictures, baby pictures and ‘special
moment’ pictures of your child to May 14. Tickets for the dinner are
available today at Alcove D. College graduates - please email Barb at
barbs@carmelbaptist.org with your name, college, and degree by May 18. |

Wednesday Night Guest
David Hickman, Executive Director of CharlotteONE, will be our guest
speaker at Adult Bible Study Wednesday, May 14. It’s easy to think
that God is working everywhere else, but in us. But God desires to
work in and through all of us for His glory. Come hear David Hickman
as he reminds us that we serve the God of the ‘in-possible’. |

Connect in Sunday Bible Study
“It feels like family.” That’s one way to describe Carmel. It
does feel like family when you are connected in a Sunday Bible Class.
The Sunday Bible Class is a community of believers that will love you,
pray with you, help you grow in your understanding of the word of God,
as well as come together to serve others locally and globally. Find
your place of connection today in one of our single adults and married
adults classes. Stop by the Welcome Center to learn more about the
classes that meet at 9:30 and 11:00am. |

A Time to Heal
We recognize that Mother’s Day is a special day for many women, but
for some it can be a painful time. For women who have lost babies, who
are struggling with infertility, or who are post-abortive, this is a
bittersweet day. If you have experienced a loss or have a friend who
has experienced a loss, please visit Alcove A today to pick up a copy
of “Morning Will Come” by Sandy Day. |

Serve at Carmel FX
Carmel FX (Family eXperience) will be a great time for youth, young
single adults, empty nesters, or any willing Carmel families to serve.
Carmel FX is at night, 6:00 - 8:30pm, so it will fit with your work
schedule and we are asking for just 2 nights. By serving in FX you can
help provide an incredible growth environment for families with
preschoolers and children to learn Bible truths. You can choose to
serve Tuesday and Wednesday June, 24 & 25 with school age
families, or Thursday and Friday, June 26 & 27 with preschool
families. Or you can help all four nights! We also need help with set
up, and break down for FX. To sign up, email Kathy Jones, kathyj@carmelbaptist.org
with your availability and preferred area of service. We will find a
perfect fit for you.
Imagine our church filled with the excitement of families who are
“discovering” God’s word together. You can make that happen by
serving in FX!
Your family can still register to attend FX at the Downtown or Uptown
desk or online. |
