How to Become a
Member of Carmel Baptist Church
There are 3 requirements for membership at Carmel
Baptist Church:
First............you
need to have accepted Christ as your Savior.
Second.......you
need to have been baptized by immersion following your decision to accept
Christ.
Third...........you need to complete Carmel's two session New
Member Class.
The way to
start the membership process is to let us know that you want to become a member
by requesting a meeting with a pastor or coming forward at the
"invitation" time at the end of a worship service. If you come
forward at the end of a worship service, Dr. Poplin will greet you and have you
meet with a one of our trained Altar Counselor’s for about ten minutes to
complete an Altar Counselor form.
The Pastor
or Altar Counselor you meet with will get some background information from you
(name, address, spiritual background, etc.) and ask you if you have accepted
Christ as Savior and if you have been baptized. If you have not accepted
Christ, they will talk to you about how to do that. If you have not been
baptized, they will note that so that we can schedule you for the next
opportunity.
The New Member's
Class - Youth and Adults
This class
is offered every Sunday morning at 9:30am
in the Covenant Room. There are two sessions –
one on
Carmel’s ministries and one on what we believe.
The two session topics are taught on a rotating basis – Session 1 one
week and Session 2 the next. You can
join in any time and do not need to register for the class. The Welcome Center
greeters can show you to the room.
You can
take this class before or after you request membership. Some people like
to take the class first to learn more about the church before they decide to
join. We also offer this class three
times per year on a Sunday afternoon from 4:00-6:00pm
followed by a New Member Dinner.
The next New Member Class and Dinner will be held on Sunday, April 20.
Contact the Membership
Office for more information.
Once you have completed all of your requirements for membership,
we
will present you to the church via a digital photo. This photo is taken in
the Adult New Member Class or during your baptism.
The
New
Member Class - Children
Children
receive special treatment!
When a child is ready to make a decision, he or she may come forward
during the invitation with a parent.
Once greeted by a minister, a trained Altar Counselor will meet with the
parent and child to discuss the next step for membership.
You will complete the Altar Counselor form at this time.
Children in Grades 1 – 6 are required to attend the “Bible Discovery
Class” prior to being baptized.
Parents must attend with their children.
This 4 week class is offered in September, October, November, January and
February. Contact the Children's
Ministry for questions.
May
I Be
A
Sunday Bible Study Class
Member
And
Not
A
Church Member?
Yes.
Many people are.
Bible study membership is not church membership, but an excellent way to
get to know some others in the church and more about our church while you study
God’s word.
Are you considering joining the Carmel Family, but have more questions?
Please call the church office (704-847-8575) and ask to speak to one of our
pastors about church membership or email
your questions to a pastor.
